So so glad you wrote this piece..

I got my 1st pair of tap shoes for my 8th birthday & the last pair my parents bouht me was for my 15th. Once 18 life, work, travel & marriage got in the way.. went back aged 49 when my daughter started to learn.. never lost the basics … 71 now, still tapping twice a week, performing still in dance school shows .. it’s not just the physical good it does( staves off dementia through brain workouts & social interaction, strengthens bone density through weight bearing & stamping), it’s the mental side as well. As soon as the music starts, the endorphins & happy hormones kick into action .

Tap dancing is underrated as a dance skill (it can be highly technical) & love it still.

Well done to all of you – especially your mum! The dance school I attend has a chair tap class for those who can no longer weight bear. Their oldest participant is a 93 year old ex Tiller girl, so your mum puts us in the shade. Fantastic piece, thank you
