    Dear Emma,

    individuals are complicated; families are exponentially more complicated than individuals.

    On top of that is the truth that was once explained to me, that “you will never know the truth about the past”. There’s no reason to be burdened by the idiosyncrasies and foibles of our ancestors and relatives. Happily, we have the relative freedom and luxury and prerogative to forge our own lives. 🍀

    By the way, you and your husband have made some delightful movies.
